
Professor Paul Sunday Nnamchi, the member representing Enugu East/Isi Uzo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives has emphasized that the defection of Labour Party (LP) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lawmakers from Enugu State to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is aimed at driving impact, strategy, progress, and development in Enugu State.

When asked about collaboration among lawmakers from different parties with divergent ideologies, Professor Nnamchi said, “We have held discussions with our Governor, Dr. Barrister Ndubisi Mbah, and there’s a consensus among us to unite and strive for the progress of Enugu State, the Southeast, and Nigeria.”
He added, “The issue of different ideologies is in the past. What’s crucial now is Enugu State’s progress, and we’re galvanizing support for the Governor’s efforts to uplift the state.”
Professor Nnamchi cited the recent gazetting of the Federal University of Agriculture, Akor-Nike, Enugu State, as an example of progress, which he presented to Governor Mbah during his visit to the National Assembly, stressing that with his Excellency’s support progress on the take off would be faster.
The lawmaker noted that aligning with the ruling party at the Centre would address the lack of federal presence in the Southeast and redress imbalances.
“Being in the same party as the Governor, rather than different fragmented parties, gives us significant influence and advantage,” Professor Nnamchi said.
He observed that this alignment would enhance their collective bargaining power, enabling them to access more dividends of democracy and accelerate development in Enugu State.
