The Enugu State Ministry of Works and Infrastructure has launched a specialised training programme for civil engineering students on the use of QuickCivilSeries-QuickStructure 9.0, a modern software suite for structural design and detailing. The workshop, held at the Ministry’s conference hall, aims to equip students with practical competencies in structural analysis, reinforced concrete design, and detailing in line with global engineering standards.

Declaring the programme open, the Honourable Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Ben Osy Okoh, reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to innovation, digital proficiency, and experiential learning. He noted that mastery of engineering software has become indispensable for accuracy, quality assurance, and efficient project delivery. Participants were drawn across five academic categories — 300 Level, 400 Level, 500 Level, HND I, and HND II — with 10 students selected from each group. The training is entirely free, comes with licensed software at no cost, and will be delivered in three batches to ensure intensive, hands-on learning.
Throughout the sessions, trainees engaged in model creation, load interpretation, structural detailing, reinforced concrete design, and automated report generation. The initiative bridges classroom theory with practical industry application, offering students the opportunity to understand how digital tools enhance precision and modernise project execution.
Sharing his experience, Okonkwo Emmanuel Chibisi, a civil engineering student from ESUT, said the programme broadened his understanding of structural design concepts and addressed challenges he had previously faced in analysing and detailing structural components. Another participant, Chime Gold Chinoyeremu, praised QuickCivilSeries-QuickStructure as an effective platform for basic analysis and reinforced concrete design, urging other civil engineering students to embrace digital tools essential to contemporary practice.
The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining similar capacity-building initiatives aimed at enhancing digital literacy, strengthening academia–industry collaboration, and preparing young engineers for the rapidly evolving demands of the construction and infrastructure sector.
