Isi Uzo Community Honours Prof. Nnamchi for Attracting Federal University of Agriculture

The people of Isi Uzo Local Government Area of Enugu State have honoured the member representing Enugu East/Isi Uzo Federal Constituency in the 10th House of Representatives, Hon. Professor Paul Sunday Nnamchi, for attracting the Federal University of Agriculture to the constituency.

The lawmaker was celebrated at the weekend during the 7th Ofala Festival of His Royal Majesty, Igwe Engineer Okey Ogbodo, the traditional ruler of Ikem Uno Autonomous Community. At the colourful ceremony, Professor Nnamchi was conferred with the traditional title Odi Uko N’Mba, meaning “a rare gem in the community,” while his wife, Onyinye, was honoured with the title Ugo Sina-Mba, meaning “an eagle from the community.”
Speaking before decorating Professor Nnamchi and his wife, Igwe Ogbodo, who also doubles as the Chairman of the Isi Uzo Local Government Traditional Rulers’ Council, highlighted several impactful initiatives executed by the lawmaker within the past two years.

These include medical outreach programmes, provision of social amenities such as solar-powered street lights, renovation and construction of primary and secondary school blocks, award of tertiary education scholarships to indigent students, and annual computer training programmes for secondary school students, among others.

The traditional ruler further acknowledged that Hon. Nnamchi had sponsored a total of 53 establishment and amendment Bills, alongside several impactful motions that promote societal orderliness and good governance.

According to him, these achievements inspired the National Assembly’s rating organ, Order Paper, to recognize Professor Nnamchi as the most performing legislator from the South-East extraction in 2024.
Also honoured at the Ofala festival for their supportive roles in the passage and eventual presidential assent to the Bill establishing the Federal University of Agriculture, Ako-Nike, were the Leader of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Professor Julius Ihonvbere, from Owan, Edo State, and Rt. Hon. Aminu Sani Jaji, Chairman, House Committee on Ecological Funds, representing Kaura-Namoda/Birnin Magaji Federal Constituency of Zamfara State.

Professor Ihonvbere was conferred with the title Okwuru Orah, meaning “the speaker of the people,” while Hon. Jaji received the title Nwanne Di N’Mba, meaning “there is brotherhood in other lands.” A Chinese national, Mr. Zhiyong Yang, was also honoured with the title Obia N’Udoh, meaning “one who comes in peace.”

Hon. Professor Nnamchi, who was accompanied to the ceremony by the former Minister of Power and Chairman of Geometric Power Limited, Professor Barth Nnaji, alongside hundreds of supporters, described the honour as enduring, stressing that it would spur him to do even more for the constituency.
