In November 2025, Enugu State took a decisive step onto the continental innovation stage with its participation in Norrsken Africa Week 2025, a premier gathering of founders, investors, and policymakers dedicated to shaping Africa’s emerging innovation economy.

For Enugu, the engagement was more than ceremonial; it was strategic.
Under the visionary leadership of His Excellency, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, the state is laying the foundation for a globally connected innovation ecosystem structured to attract investment capital, nurture scalable enterprises, and generate sustainable, high-value employment opportunities.
Central to this agenda is the Enugu MSME & Startup Agency (Enugu SME Center), which will function as the coordinating engine of the ecosystem. The agency is tasked with harmonizing policy direction, infrastructure development, talent cultivation, and investor engagement into a unified, results-driven framework.
Through the forthcoming Enugu Tech & Innovation Hub, the state has set ambitious and measurable targets: supporting over 100 scalable startups annually, mobilizing between $10 and $15 million in investment capital within the next three to five years, and creating between 3,000 and 5,000 high-value jobs. The Hub will also deliver structured accelerator programmes, investor-readiness initiatives, and integration into global venture networks to ensure Enugu-based startups compete effectively on the international stage.
This initiative represents a structural transformation, not a symbolic gesture.
With the Enugu Tech & Innovation Hub set to commence operations soon, the state is transitioning from participation to leadership in Africa’s innovation narrative. Enugu is not merely joining the continental conversation on technology and entrepreneurship; it is positioning itself as a front-runner in shaping the future of Africa’s digital economy.
