Tribalism and the “My Turn” Mentality: An Obstacle to Development in Enugu East/Isi Uzo

Tribalism and the prevalent “my turn” mindset remain significant obstacles to socio-economic progress in Nigeria, particularly in the Enugu East/Isi Uzo Federal Constituency. Prioritizing ethnicity over competence has serious consequences:

Inefficient allocation of resources: Development opportunities are often concentrated among dominant ethnic groups, leaving other communities underserved.

Stifled economic growth: Tribal divisions discourage innovation and entrepreneurship, as focus shifts from merit and capability to ethnic considerations.

Weak governance: Leadership based on ethnicity rather than ability undermines effective representation and policy implementation.

The people of Enugu East/Isi Uzo deserve leaders who prioritize competence, performance, and inclusive development over tribal loyalties. Allowing Prof. Paul Sunday Nnamchi to complete his second tenure will ensure continuity, stability, and sustained progress for the entire constituency.
