
The Government of has graduated the first cohort of participants from the Enugu Magic Labs Animation Training Program (EMAT), an initiative aimed at equipping young creatives with globally competitive skills in the fast-growing digital and animation industry.

The program, delivered by the , also known as the , in partnership with , provided four months of intensive training for participants in areas such as 2D illustration, 3D motion design, animation storytelling and digital content production.

According to officials, the initiative is part of a broader effort to position the state as a hub for digital innovation while preparing young people for opportunities within the global animation and digital content industry, which is valued at over $390 billion.

Speaking on the initiative, the Governor of , , said the programme reflects the government’s commitment to building a future-ready workforce driven by technology and creativity.

“The future of our economy lies in the hands of digitally skilled young people. Our job as government is to create the platform for them to compete globally,” the governor said.

Beyond the training, graduates of the programme are expected to benefit from internship opportunities, freelance engagements, studio collaborations and access to global creative platforms to help them build sustainable careers in the digital economy.

Officials of the also announced that applications have opened for the second cohort of the EMAT programme, giving more residents the opportunity to receive training in animation and creative technology.
