The Enugu State Ministry of Education, in collaboration with the Post Primary Schools Management Board (PPSMB), has intensified efforts to ensure integrity in WAEC registration across the state’s secondary schools.

The crackdown, aimed at curbing the registration of external candidates, was spearheaded by Rev. Fr. Dr. Hilary Mgbodile and Mrs. Zita Oba, the Director of Schools at the Ministry of Education. The officials emphasized that their actions align with Governor Dr. Peter Mbah’s vision of revolutionizing education in Enugu State.

Fr. Mgbodile assured students that they are part of a generation benefiting from a government committed to educational excellence. He urged learners to focus on preparation using past question papers, stressing that exam malpractice is increasingly being eliminated in the state.

During the inspection, several schools were flagged for irregularities, including Apple Seed International School, God Provides School, CSS Ndiagu Amaechi, King’s College, and Nicholas International School. External candidates identified at these institutions were reassigned to nearby schools where their registration will be properly monitored.

The Ministry announced that proprietors of schools found guilty of breaching registration rules will face prosecution and review by a state panel to determine the schools’ continued eligibility to operate in Enugu.

Parents and school administrators were advised to comply with the government’s policies and resist any attempts to circumvent the new measures.

The initiative reflects a broader push for accountability and standardization in the state’s education sector, with authorities vowing to maintain strict oversight in all future WAEC registration exercises.
