
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the posting of 65 ambassadors to Nigeria’s diplomatic missions across the world, comprising 34 non-career envoys and 31 career diplomats.
The ambassadors-designate were earlier confirmed by the Senate in December and are expected to represent Nigeria in various countries and international organisations.
In a statement issued on Friday, the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, said the deployment forms part of efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s diplomatic engagement and strategic global presence.
Key Non-Career Appointments
Among the prominent appointments, former governor of Abia State, Okezie Ikpeazu, has been posted to Spain, while former Enugu State governor, Ifeanyi Lawrence Ugwuanyi, will serve as ambassador to Greece.

Jimoh Ibrahim – Permanent Representative to the United Nations
Femi Fani-Kayode – Germany
Isaak Adewole – Canada
Abdulrahman Bello Dambazau – China

Former Senator Ita Enang was assigned to South Africa, while Grace Bent will serve in Togo.

The postings also include experienced career diplomats assigned to strategic missions across Africa, Europe, Asia and the Americas.

Diplomatic Clearance and Induction
The Presidency disclosed that agrément has already been received from the United Kingdom for High Commissioner-designate Ambassador Aminu Dalhatu, while France has approved the appointment of Ambassador Ayo Oke.
According to the statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has also transmitted the names of the remaining envoys to their respective host countries requesting diplomatic clearance.
President Tinubu has directed the ministry to immediately commence the induction programme for the ambassadors-designate and high commissioners ahead of their deployment.
The appointments are expected to strengthen Nigeria’s diplomatic footprint and advance the country’s political, economic and strategic interests abroad.
