
The Member representing Aninri/Awgu/Oji-River Federal Constituency, Hon. Engr. Anayo Onwuegbu, was ably represented on Friday, 22nd May 2026, at the burial ceremony of His Royal Majesty, Late Igwe P.D. Uzochukwu (JP), Ezeudo I of Mgbidi, Ezechinyelu II, as dignitaries, traditional rulers, political stakeholders, and sympathizers gathered to honour the revered monarch and celebrate his impactful legacy.

Ifeanyichukwu Chukwu (Oyi of Oyi). Other members of the delegation included Hon. Peter Aja, Senior Legislative Aide (SLA) to the MHR; Hon. Okibe Michael, Senior Special Assistant on Youth Mobilisation, Awgu; and Hon. Prince Fidelis Obidinanwa.
The late monarch was remembered as a symbol of peace, wisdom, unity, and cultural preservation whose reign brought stability, progress, and communal harmony to Mgbidi and neighbouring communities. Speakers at the event described him as a father figure and bridge-builder whose influence transcended traditional leadership.
Speaking on behalf of Hon. Engr. Anayo Onwuegbu, the delegation conveyed the lawmaker’s heartfelt condolences to the family of the late monarch, particularly Prince Emeka Uzochukwu, Special Personal Assistant on Political Matters to the Chairman of Awgu Local Government Area and son of the deceased royal father.
They noted that the passing of the monarch marked the end of a remarkable era of purposeful and people-oriented traditional leadership, while urging the family and the community to sustain the values of peace, unity, and service for which the late Igwe was widely known.
The burial ceremony attracted a large turnout of mourners, political leaders, community stakeholders, traditional rulers, and well-wishers from within and outside Awgu Local Government Area, reflecting the enormous respect and admiration the late monarch commanded during his lifetime.
Among dignitaries present were the Chairman of Awgu Local Government Area, Hon. Uchenna Okolo; Deputy Chairman of Awgu LGA, Stanley Ezediuto; Member representing Awgu South State Constituency, Anthony Nwankwo; Hon. Charles Ezenta; Chairman of the PDP in Awgu LGA, Kenechukwu Okolo; alongside several other political associates, traditional leaders, and community representatives.
As tributes continued to pour in, mourners reflected on the enduring impact of the late Igwe’s reign, describing him as a custodian of culture and an advocate of peace whose legacy will continue to inspire generations yet unborn.
