The Enugu State Ministry of Works and Infrastructure has congratulated the Governor of Enugu State, , on the occasion of his third anniversary in office, describing his administration as visionary, strategic, and transformative in its approach to governance and development.

In a statement issued on behalf of the management and staff of the ministry, the Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Ben Osy Okoh, FNSE, F.ASCE, commended Governor Mbah for what he described as “three years of purposeful leadership, disciplined execution, and bold reforms that have fundamentally redefined the development trajectory of Enugu State.”

According to the commissioner, the governor’s administration has distinguished itself through the implementation of a far-reaching infrastructure agenda that continues to transform both the urban and rural landscape of the state.

He noted that the development of the New Enugu City remains one of the signature projects of the administration, conceived as a modern, master-planned city with integrated infrastructure designed to decongest the existing metropolis while attracting investment, innovation, and sustainable urban growth.

The ministry further highlighted major interventions in the healthcare sector, including the ongoing construction of the 300-bed Enugu International Hospital and the proposed Oncology Centre equipped with PET-CT and Cyclotron facilities. These projects, the statement noted, are part of deliberate efforts to position Enugu as a leading destination for advanced healthcare services in Nigeria and beyond.

The commissioner also pointed to the construction of 260 Type II Primary Healthcare Centres across all wards in the state as evidence of the administration’s commitment to accessible and quality healthcare delivery at the grassroots level.

Beyond healthcare and urban development, the ministry praised Governor Mbah for reviving and transforming several critical state assets aimed at driving economic growth, tourism, sports, and investment.

Among the projects highlighted were the completion and commissioning of the International Conference Centre, which had remained abandoned for over seventeen years, the ongoing development of the International Conference Hotel, and the revitalisation of Hotel Presidential.

The statement also referenced the approval for the remodelling of the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, the construction of strategic transport terminals across the state, the establishment of Smart Green Schools, and the ongoing transformation of technical education facilities as clear indicators of an administration focused on building a modern and globally competitive Enugu State.

Speaking on infrastructure delivery, the ministry disclosed that under Governor Mbah’s leadership, the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure has undertaken one of the most ambitious road development programmes in the history of the state.

According to the statement, more than 300 roads have been completed under Phases 1 and 2 of the urban road projects, while approval has already been granted for an additional 1,022 urban roads under Phase 3.

It added that across rural and intercity corridors, the administration continues to execute major road projects, bridges, and drainage systems with strict adherence to quality standards, durability, and sustainability.

The ministry equally commended the impact of the administration’s Zero Tolerance for Potholes initiative, describing it as a major intervention that has restored public confidence in road infrastructure maintenance across the state.

“Your Excellency’s achievements over the past three years reflect a government that is focused, coordinated, and genuinely committed to building a resilient, prosperous, and forward-looking Enugu State,” the commissioner stated.

“As the administration marks this important milestone, we celebrate your courage, discipline, and clarity of purpose, and pray that Almighty God continues to grant you wisdom, strength, sound health, and the resources required to sustain and deepen this remarkable transformation across Enugu State.”
