Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe! The Deputy Chairman of Awgu Local Government Area, Hon. Stanley Uchenna Ezediuto, PhD, has lauded the Executive Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, for approving return tickets for Deputy Mayors across the seventeen Local Government Areas of the state, describing the move as a bold demonstration of inclusive leadership, political fairness, and recognition of dedicated service.

In a statement made available to journalists, Hon. Ezediuto said the Governor’s decision has further strengthened confidence among grassroots political leaders and reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to rewarding loyalty, competence, and commitment to public service.
According to him, the gesture has been widely welcomed by stakeholders across the state, particularly among Deputy Chairmen who have worked diligently in supporting the administration’s governance and development agenda at the local government level.
Drawing inspiration from an age-long Igbo adage, “Eme nwata ka e mere ibe ya, obi adị ya mma” (when a child sees another child treated fairly, his heart is gladdened), the Awgu Deputy Chairman noted that Governor Mbah’s action has created a sense of belonging and renewed hope among local government officials.
He further commended the Governor for ensuring continuity in governance through the retention of most serving Council Chairmen for a second term while also extending similar consideration to a significant number of Deputy Chairmen across the state.
Ezediuto observed that in several councils where incumbent Mayors have completed their constitutionally prescribed tenure, deputies were given the opportunity to step forward and assume greater leadership responsibilities, a development he described as evidence of strategic succession planning and institutional stability within the local government system.
“The decision of His Excellency to grant return tickets to Deputy Chairmen is not only a reward for hard work but also a strong statement that dedication, loyalty, and service to the people will always be recognized under his administration,” he stated.
Expressing gratitude on behalf of fellow beneficiaries, the Awgu Deputy Chairman said the confidence reposed in them would inspire greater commitment to service delivery and grassroots development.
“We are profoundly grateful to Governor Peter Mbah for this rare privilege and vote of confidence. We do not take it for granted. Rather, it will serve as motivation for us to redouble our efforts in supporting the administration’s transformative vision for Enugu State,” he said.
He reaffirmed the commitment of Deputy Chairmen across the state to remain steadfast partners in the Governor’s ambitious development agenda, emphasizing that they would continue to mobilize support, deepen grassroots engagement, and contribute meaningfully to the realization of the administration’s objectives.
Hon. Ezediuto expressed optimism that with the continued support of the people and the focused leadership of Governor Mbah, Enugu State would witness even greater strides in economic growth, infrastructure development, social advancement, and good governance.
He concluded by thanking the Governor for his exemplary leadership, fairness, and unwavering belief in the capacity of local government leaders to drive development from the grassroots.
