Eco Ventures Honours Outstanding Public Primary School Pupils, Commends Mbah’s Education Reforms

The sweeping education reforms of the Governor Peter Mbah Administration received further validation on Wednesday as outstanding pupils and teachers from public primary schools across Enugu State were honoured at the grand finale of the 2026 Computer Appreciation Test Competition organised by Eco Ventures Nigeria Publishers Limited in collaboration with the Enugu State Universal Basic Education Board (ENSUBEB).

The event, held at the ENSUBEB Headquarters in Enugu, brought together education stakeholders from across the state to celebrate academic excellence, digital literacy and innovation among primary school pupils, in line with the state government’s commitment to building a future-ready generation through technology-driven education.

Miss Nnebuife Mmesoma of Igbariam Primary School, Achara Layout, emerged as the overall winner, receiving the golden trophy, a computer tablet and exercise books. Master Onovo Emmanuel of Smart Green School, Isi-Uzo, came second, while Miss Okepe Mary Cynthia of Model Primary School, Nsukka, placed third. Both runners-up also received tablets and exercise books.

Obe Smart Green School emerged winner of the Spelling Bee and Debate competitions after recording the highest score ahead of Queens Smart Green School, Enugu Campus 1.

In the Quiz Competition involving contestants from the state’s educational zones, Enugu South Zone, represented by Miss Nnebuife Mmesoma, emerged victorious with 24 points. Enugu North Zone, represented by Miss Okepe Mary Cynthia, came second with 20 points, while Enugu West Zone, represented by Odineto Chimamanda, finished third with 13½ points. Winners received tablets and other educational materials.

The competition featured pupils from public primary schools across 12 of the state’s 17 local government areas, with winners in the various categories receiving prizes, while all participants were presented with exercise books in recognition of their efforts.

Speaking during the ceremony, the Chief Executive Officer of Eco Ventures Nigeria Publishers Limited, Dr. Augustine Okoh, described the competition as part of the company’s commitment to promoting computer literacy and supporting the education transformation agenda of the Enugu State Government under Governor Peter Mbah.

He commended the governor’s bold investments in education, particularly the Smart Green Schools initiative, which is redefining teaching and learning through technology, innovation and digital skills acquisition, noting that the reforms align with Eco Ventures’ vision of preparing pupils for a technology-driven future.

Okoh disclosed that Eco Ventures has partnered with the Enugu State Government since 2008 to promote quality education and digital literacy. According to him, the company has, over the years, supplied 286 computer sets with accessories, including desktop computers, laptops and tablets, 108 power generating sets and more than 58,000 exercise books to schools across the state.

He added that the company would further support schools by providing additional tablets and educational materials to participating pupils, while also offering free computer training for teachers to strengthen their digital teaching competencies.

The ceremony attracted members of the ENSUBEB Board, directors, administrators from the Local Government Education Authorities (LGEAs), head teachers, classroom teachers and other stakeholders in the education sector.

The event further highlighted the remarkable transformation taking place in Enugu’s education sector under Governor Mbah’s administration, whose unprecedented investments in Smart Green Schools, digital infrastructure, teacher capacity development and technology-driven learning continue to position the state as a national leader in basic education and human capital development.
