
The Nkerefi Development Association (NDA) has expressed profound gratitude to the Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, for appointing three illustrious sons of Nkerefi as Special Assistants in his administration.

Egbonwonu Jude Chikezie, Special Assistant on Infrastructure Monitoring and Maintenance; Prince Ifeanyi Onuora, Special Assistant on National Orientation; and Hon. Peter Chibuzor Nwaekemezie, Special Assistant on Market Orientation.
In a statement issued on behalf of the Association, its President General, Hon. Chukwudi Boniface Okeke, said the appointments had been received with overwhelming joy and pride by the Nkerefi community, both at home and in the diaspora.
The Association described the appointments as a demonstration of Governor Mbah’s commitment to inclusive governance, equitable representation and the recognition of talent across communities in Enugu State.
“Our joy knows no bounds. This is a moment of pride for every son and daughter of Nkerefi. It is a clear sign that our community is seen, valued and counted in the unfolding story of a new Enugu,” the statement said.
The NDA also recalled the emergence of Hon. Mike Ogbuekwe as the first son of Nkerefi to contest and win the Nkanu East Local Government Area chairmanship election, describing the development as another significant milestone in the community’s political history under Governor Mbah’s administration.
According to the Association, the latest appointments further strengthen Nkerefi’s representation in the state government, adding to the list of its indigenes already serving in strategic positions.
Among them are Prof. G. O. C. Ajah, Chairman of the Enugu State Civil Service Commission; Hon. Chimaobi Okorie, Esq., Commissioner for Lands and Urban Development; Hon. Monday Diamond Ani, Managing Director of the Community Service Development Agency; and Hon. Prince Ejeh Josh, Esq., Special Assistant on Research and Publication.
The Association said the appointments collectively reflected a sustained commitment to recognising the capacity of Nkerefi’s people and giving them opportunities to contribute to the development of Enugu State.
It added that inclusive governance strengthens the people’s sense of belonging and encourages communities to take greater ownership of the state’s development agenda.
“Each of these appointments is a vote of confidence in the competence, character and capacity of our people. Taken together, they demonstrate a recognition of merit and an understanding that a state is stronger when all its communities have a seat at the table,” the statement added.
While congratulating the three newly appointed Special Assistants, the NDA urged them to regard their appointments as a call to service and a responsibility to the people of Enugu State.
The Association charged them to discharge their duties with humility, integrity, diligence and professionalism, while remaining committed to the ideals of good governance and the welfare of ordinary citizens.
“We charge our sons to remember at all times that they carry the name, hopes and reputation of Nkerefi. They must be diligent in their duties, loyal to the Governor, faithful to the ideals of good governance and mindful of the welfare of the people,” the statement said.
The NDA further called on the Nkerefi community to support the appointees with prayers, goodwill and constructive advice, while sustaining the unity and cooperation necessary for the community’s continued progress.
Reaffirming its confidence in Governor Mbah’s leadership, the Association pledged the continued goodwill and cooperation of Ndi-Nkerefi in advancing the administration’s vision for the progress and prosperity of Enugu State.
The statement also acknowledged the appointment of Nkerefi indigenes to the Nkanu South Development Centre, describing it as another opportunity for the community’s sons and daughters to contribute to development at the grassroots.
The Association concluded by expressing appreciation to Governor Mbah for recognising Nkerefi and providing its people with opportunities to serve the state.
“On behalf of the entire people of Nkerefi, at home and in the diaspora, we say a heartfelt thank you to His Excellency, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah. May God Almighty grant him wisdom, good health and abundant strength as he continues to lead Enugu State to greater heights,” the statement concluded.
