The appointees are
Engr. Egbonwonu Jude Chikezie, Prince Ifeanyi Onuora, and Hon. Peter Chibuzor Nwaekemezie who were appointed Special Assistant on Infrastructure Monitoring and Maintenance, Special Assistant on National Orientation, and Special Assistant on Market Orientation respectively.

In a statement issued on behalf of the Association, the leadership of the NDA said the news had been received with indescribable joy in every Nkerefi household, from the ancestral homeland to the many communities where her sons and daughters reside across Nigeria and beyond. “Our joy knows no bounds,” the statement read. “This is a moment of pride for every son and daughter of Nkerefi. It is a clear sign that our community is seen, valued and counted in the unfolding story of a new Enugu.”

The statement also recalled that, for the first time in Nkerefi’s history, one of her sons, Hon. Mike Ogbuekwe contested an elective office, the Nkanu East LGA Chairmanship, and won through the instrumentality of His Excellency, Governor Mbah.

The Association described the appointments as a demonstration of the Governor’s commitment to inclusive governance, and equitable representation. It noted that when governance reaches into every community, however small, the people develop a deeper sense of belonging and a stronger stake in the success of the state. “Governor Mbah has shown that no community is too remote to be recognised, and no group of citizens is too small to be heard,” the statement continued. “By drawing talent from across the length and breadth of Enugu State, he is building an administration that reflects the true diversity, character and aspirations of the people it serves.”

The NDA pointed out that the latest appointments are not the first time the Mbah administration has reached into Nkerefi to draw on the capacity of her sons. They add to a growing list of appointments already serving with distinction in various capacities in the government.

Among them are Prof. G. O. C. Ajah, Chairman, Enugu State Civil Service Commission, Hon. Chimaobi Okorie, Esq., Commissioner for Lands and Urban Development; Hon. Monday Diamond Ani, Managing Director of the Community Service Development Agency; and Hon. Prince Ejeh Josh, Esq., Special Assistant on Research, and Publication.

According to the Association, the cumulative effect of these appointments is a sustained and deliberate gesture of inclusion that the people of Nkerefi will neither take for granted nor forget. “Each of these appointments is a vote of confidence in the competence, character and capacity of our people,” the statement said. “Taken together, they show a Governor who listens, who recognises merit wherever it is found, and who understands that a state is built stronger when all its communities have a seat at the table.”

While congratulating the three new Special Assistants, the Association reminded them that public office is a call to service and a sacred trust. It urged them to see their appointments as an opportunity to serve the people of Enugu State with humility, integrity and diligence. “We charge our sons to remember at all times that they carry the name, hopes and reputation of Nkerefi,” the statement said. “They must be diligent in their duties, loyal to the Governor, faithful to the ideals of good governance, and mindful of the welfare of the ordinary people. We expect them to work harmoniously with their colleagues, to uphold the dignity of the offices they hold, and to leave behind a legacy of which Nkerefi will be proud.”

The NDA also called on the wider Nkerefi community to support the appointees with prayers, goodwill and constructive counsel, and to sustain the spirit of unity that has made such recognition possible.

The Association reaffirmed its confidence in the leadership of Governor Mbah and pledged the continued loyalty, goodwill and cooperation of the people of Nkerefi in the pursuit of his vision for the progress and prosperity of Enugu State. “We assure His Excellency of our support and constant prayers,” the statement said. “As a community, we remain committed to peace, unity and sustainable development, and we stand ready to partner with his administration in every effort that advances the welfare of our people and the state at large.

The NDA concluded by thanking the Governor once more for his generosity of spirit and readiness to give Nkerefi’s sons an opportunity to contribute to the state’s development, as also shown in the recent appointment of her sons and daughters to the Nkanu South Development Centre. “On behalf of the entire people of Nkerefi, at home and in the diaspora, we say a heartfelt thank you to His Excellency, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah. May God Almighty grant him wisdom, good health and abundant strength as he continues to lead Enugu State to greater heights.”
