
According to a report from The Nation, former Military Governor of Plateau State, Colonel Muhammad Mana (rtd.), has passed away at the age of 74. He died on Saturday, August 22, 2025, following a brief illness.

Mana served as the military administrator of Plateau State from 1993 to 1996 and later represented Adamawa North in the Nigerian Senate. During his tenure as governor, he was widely recognized for initiating projects and policies that advanced the state’s development and contributed to national growth.
His passing has elicited an outpouring of tributes from leaders and citizens nationwide. Plateau State Governor, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang, described the loss as “a painful loss to his family, the people of Plateau, and the nation.”
Governor Mutfwang commended Col. Mana’s efforts in promoting peace, unity, and progress during a critical period in Plateau’s history. He added that Mana’s wisdom and leadership would be deeply missed, particularly as Nigeria continues to grapple with challenges related to stability and national cohesion.
“On behalf of my family, the government, and the people of Plateau State, I extend heartfelt condolences to the family of Col. Mana. We pray for God’s strength and comfort for them in this period of mourning,” Governor Mutfwang said.
