The Enugu State Universal Basic Education Board (ENSUBEB) has joined millions of residents in celebrating the 34th anniversary of the creation of Enugu State, felicitating with Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah and the people of the state on the historic occasion.

Prof. Hyginus Banko Okibe, the Board commended the governor for what it described as his visionary and dynamic leadership that has redefined governance in the state.
“On behalf of the Board Member, Management, and the entire staff of ENSUBEB, I sincerely send this goodwill message to our ebullient, visionary, and dynamic Governor, His Excellency, Barr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, and Ndi Enugu on this memorable occasion of the 34th anniversary celebration of the creation of Enugu State,” Okibe stated.
He noted that the anniversary was both a time for thanksgiving and reflection, pointing out that the creation of Enugu State in 1991 was a well-deserved milestone in the emancipation and progress of the Wawa people of Igbo extraction.
Tracing the state’s historical journey from the Eastern Region through East Central State, old Anambra State, and old Enugu State before assuming its current status, Okibe described Enugu as the proud home of the South East geopolitical zone.
The ENSUBEB boss also paid glowing tribute to the founding fathers and past leaders of Enugu State for their doggedness and sacrifices in actualizing the creation of the state and laying the foundation for its growth.
Commending Governor Mbah’s administration, Okibe highlighted the governor’s all-inclusive leadership style and disruptive innovations that have left what he called “a signature in every sector of the state economy.”
According to him, “Worthy of note are the take-off of Smart Green Schools that incorporate technology and innovation in teaching and learning—revolutionizing basic education in the state like never before in the history of the South East zone. Equally remarkable are the monumental infrastructural projects, massive road and bridge constructions, improved security, human capital development, quality healthcare services, and regular water supply, among others.”
Okibe stressed that Governor Mbah has kept faith with the dreams of the state’s founding fathers and has already etched his name in history as “the most performing Governor that the state has had since its creation 34 years ago.”
With the anniversary celebration, ENSUBEB expressed confidence that Enugu State under Governor Mbah’s leadership is firmly on the path of sustainable growth and transformation.
