The Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Enugu State Chapter, Hon. Sydney Okechukwu Edeh, has reaffirmed the unwavering support and loyalty of all local government chairmen to Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, describing him as the embodiment of purposeful and visionary leadership in Enugu State.
Speaking with newsmen on Sunday, October 12, 2025, amid speculations about the governor’s rumoured defection to the APC, Hon. Edeh maintained that what truly matters is Governor Mbah’s performance and delivery of good governance, not political affiliations.
> “Political parties are merely vehicles to a destination; they do not define the quality of governance,” he said. “The 17 local government chairmen stand firmly behind Governor Mbah and will support any decision he makes, because he remains the only political party Ndi Enugu recognize today. Mbah leads, we follow.”
Hon. Edeh commended Governor Mbah for his transformative policies and steadfast commitment to the development of Enugu State, noting achievements in infrastructure, economic empowerment, and transparent governance—hallmarks that have earned him the trust and admiration of the people.
> “Governor Peter Mbah is not just a leader; he is the political compass guiding Enugu State toward progress and prosperity,” Edeh emphasized. “His vision is clear, and Ndi Enugu stand firmly behind him, ready to support his initiatives and follow his leadership wherever it leads.”
The ALGON Chairman highlighted the renewed unity and collaboration between the state government and local government councils, saying it has fostered more effective governance and accelerated grassroots development.
> “The progress of Enugu State depends on our collective resolve to support a leader who has demonstrated competence, integrity, and vision,” he stated. “Governor Mbah’s unwavering commitment to the welfare of Ndi Enugu deserves our total alignment with his vision for a greater Enugu.”
Hon. Edeh’s remarks come as Enugu State records major strides in economic growth and infrastructural renewal under Governor Mbah’s administration.
