KEEP ENUGU CLEAN: ESWAMA SETS OCTOBER 25 CLEAN-UP DAY WITH STRICT COMPLIANCE MEASURES

The Enugu State Waste Management Authority (ESWAMA) has issued a formal notice to residents of Enugu State regarding the mandatory monthly clean-up exercise scheduled for Saturday, 25 October 2025, between 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m.

In a statement endorsed by the Public Relations Officer, Mr. Chikwelu Udoka, the Authority disclosed that movement of persons and vehicles will be prohibited throughout the duration of the exercise. Only individuals on essential duties will be allowed passage upon presentation of a valid identification or an ESWAMA-issued pass. Offenders will be apprehended and prosecuted by the Environmental Mobile Court.

Commercial activities, including early morning workouts, trading, and loading or off-loading of passengers at motor parks, are strictly suspended until the exercise is concluded.

ESWAMA further reminded residents that enforcement against unlawful waste disposal remains in full force. The agency reiterated that refuse must only be disposed of within the approved time window of 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. daily, and cautioned against illegal dumping, scavenging at waste collection points, and throwing waste from moving vehicles or tricycles.

The Authority urged households and commercial operators to ensure prompt payment of their sanitation levies through authorized e-ticketing agents to avoid penalties. For inquiries, residents are advised to contact 0813 553 4440.
