The fourth batch of the Enugu SME Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Program has once again demonstrated the transformative power of hands-on, skills-based education in shaping a new generation of technically proficient youth in Enugu State.

The intensive training sessions focused on precision plumbing installations, real-time fault diagnosis, and repairs, providing participants with practical exposure to real-world challenges in the construction and technical services industry. Under the guidance of experienced facilitators, trainees mastered key competencies, from fitting water closets to accurately measuring tiled surfaces for pipe layouts, equipping them with employable skills essential for today’s workforce.
Implemented by the Enugu SME Center under the leadership of Mr. Arinze Chilo-Offiah (Special Adviser to the Governor on MSMEs & Digital Economy / Director General, Enugu SME Center), the program is delivered in partnership with COPEN Group, the Industrial Training Fund (ITF), the Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association (NECA), and the C-STEMP Skills Training Centre.
Speaking on the initiative, Mr. Chilo-Offiah reaffirmed that the TVET program forms a key part of Governor Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah’s human capital development vision, which seeks to reposition Enugu State as a skills-driven economy. “Through this program, we are not just training young people, we are building a future-ready workforce that can compete, innovate, and contribute to sustainable economic growth,” he stated.
The TVET initiative is a cornerstone of the “Tomorrow is Here” agenda of the Mbah administration, aimed at equipping Enugu’s youth with technical expertise and entrepreneurial skills that enable self-reliance and job creation.
As Batch 4 concludes successfully, the Enugu SME Center has expressed gratitude to all partners, facilitators, and trainees who made the program a success, with preparations already underway for the next batch.
