The initiative, delivered through the Enugu SME Center (Enugu MSME & Startup Agency) in strategic partnership with the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN), is designed to move local enterprises beyond subsistence operations into structured, competitive, and job-creating businesses.

According to the State Government, the intervention aligns with the bold economic vision of Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, whose administration has prioritised enterprise development as a core pillar of inclusive growth under the Tomorrow is Here agenda.

Unlike conventional empowerment programmes, the equipment grant support focuses on long-term economic impact by providing MSMEs with the tools needed to enhance efficiency, meet market standards, and scale sustainably.

“This is not empowerment for optics,” the government noted. “It is the deliberate provision of economic infrastructure that enables businesses to grow, create jobs, and contribute meaningfully to the state’s economic transformation.”

The programme underscores Enugu State’s commitment to building a resilient MSME ecosystem capable of driving productivity, innovation, and shared prosperity.
