Hon. Engr. Anayo Onwuegbu Pays Final Tribute to Late Mr. Anthony Egbochukwu Okolie, Father of Hon. Friday Okolie, at Burial Ceremony in Awgu

The Member representing Aninri/Awgu/Oji River Federal Constituency of Enugu State in the House of Representatives, Hon. Engr. Anayo Onwuegbu, has paid his final respects to Late Mr. Anthony Egbochukwu Okolie, the father of Hon. Friday Ogugua Okolie, at his burial ceremony held on Saturday, 13 December 2025, at Amagelu Amofia, Awgu Town, Awgu Local Government Area of Enugu State.

Late Mr. Okolie, who passed away at the age of 76, was a devout Christian and a committed member of the Christian faith. He was widely revered for his deep faith, humility, and lifelong dedication to service, charity, and humanity, virtues that endeared him to many within and beyond the Awgu community.

Speaking during the ceremony, Hon. Engr. Onwuegbu commiserated with the Okolie family, describing the passing of the patriarch as a profound loss not only to the immediate family but also to the entire Awgu community. He noted that the late Mr. Okolie lived a life worthy of emulation, marked by integrity, compassion, and selfless service to God and humanity.

The federal lawmaker prayed for the peaceful repose of the deceasedโ€™s soul and for Godโ€™s comforting grace upon the bereaved family. He expressed confidence that the exemplary life and enduring legacy of faith, love, and goodwill left behind by Late Mr. Okolie would continue to inspire present and future generations.

In his condolence message, Hon. Engr. Onwuegbu conveyed his heartfelt sympathies to the Okolie family and prayed that God would grant them the strength and fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

The presence of Hon. Engr. Onwuegbu, who also serves as Chairman of the House Committee on Lake Chad, underscored his solidarity with the bereaved family and his deep respect for the values and virtues exemplified by the deceased.

The burial ceremony attracted a large gathering of dignitaries, including government functionaries, business leaders, traditional rulers, and other prominent personalities from across the state and beyond. Hon. Onwuegbu was accompanied by a team of aides, including Hon. Boniface Uchendu, Special Assistant on Special Duties; Hon. Emeka Omera; Engr. Ifeanyichukwu Chukwu; Hon. Michael Udeh; Hon. Michael Okaibe; Hon. Maryrose Chukwu; Hon. Onyekachi Nwafor; Hon. Favour Ofoma; and Hon. Obinna A. Okpara, Media Aide.

As family members, friends, and well-wishers gathered to bid farewell to a respected patriarch, the life and legacy of Late Mr. Anthony Egbochukwu Okolie, defined by faith, service, and compassion, remained firmly etched in the hearts of all who came to honour his memory.
