In his New Year message, conveyed through his Special Adviser on General Media and Publicity, Hon. Tochukwu Chukwu, the council chairman called on residents to uphold the values of peace, hard work, mutual respect, and community spirit as the local government enters another year of purposeful governance and service delivery.

Hon. Okolo urged Ndi Awgu to consolidate the gains recorded in the outgoing year, encouraging families, youths, women, and community leaders to remain committed to peace, lawful conduct, and shared responsibility in driving sustainable development across communities.

Reflecting on his first year in office, the chairman expressed deep gratitude to God and the people of Awgu for their continued support and cooperation, noting that the progress achieved so far was the result of collective effort and unity of purpose.

He also commended the Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, for his visionary leadership and aggressive infrastructural drive, which he said has repositioned the state as a hub of development, innovation, and economic renewal.

According to Hon. Okolo, Governor Mbah’s leadership has created an enabling environment for local governments to operate effectively and implement projects that directly impact the lives of citizens at the grassroots.

“Governor Mbah has effectively turned Enugu State into a construction site. At the local government level, we are proudly replicating this development momentum. Enugu is steadily becoming the pride of the South East, and Awgu is fully aligned with this vision through inclusive, people-centred governance,” he said.

Looking ahead, the council chairman reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to consolidating ongoing projects and initiating new ones in the areas of water supply, road infrastructure, security, education, healthcare, and social welfare.

He assured residents that key initiatives such as the Awgu Water for All Programme, road projects linking Smart Green Schools, enhanced security infrastructure, and other people-oriented interventions would be sustained and expanded in the new year to ensure that development reaches every community in the local government area.

Hon. Okolo concluded by wishing Ndi Awgu a peaceful, prosperous, and fulfilling New Year, expressing optimism that the year ahead would bring greater unity, progress, good health, and shared prosperity to families and communities across Awgu Local Government Area.
