In a statement made available to journalists on Sunday, Onwuegbu said the overwhelming support received by Asogwa at the polls reflected the confidence the people of Enugu North Senatorial District have in his capacity to provide effective representation and advance the developmental aspirations of the zone.
The federal lawmaker noted that the by-election victory was not merely a political achievement but a reflection of the people’s confidence in the purposeful leadership of His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, whose development-driven administration has continued to inspire hope and progress across the state. He added that the outcome also demonstrated the electorate’s commitment to democratic values and responsive governance.
According to him, Chief Asogwa’s emergence as Senator-Elect marks the beginning of a new chapter of hope and renewed representation for the people of Enugu North, who turned out in large numbers to make their voices heard through the ballot.
“Your landslide victory is a clear testament to the trust and confidence reposed in you by the people. It is an affirmation of your years of dedication, accessibility, and unwavering commitment to the progress of Enugu North Senatorial District,” Onwuegbu stated.
He expressed confidence that the Senator-Elect would deploy his vast experience and political goodwill towards promoting legislation and policies that would enhance socio-economic development, empower constituents, and strengthen democratic institutions.
Onwuegbu further commended the electorate for their peaceful conduct during the election and praised electoral officials and security agencies for ensuring a largely orderly process.
The lawmaker urged political stakeholders across party lines to rally behind the Senator-Elect in the collective interest of the district, emphasizing that sustainable development can only be achieved through unity, cooperation, and a shared commitment to the welfare of the people.
“As you prepare to assume this important responsibility, I pray that God grants you wisdom, strength, and good health to deliver on the mandate entrusted to you. The expectations are high, but I am confident that you possess the capacity and vision to justify the overwhelming support you have received,” he added.
