The creation of the Fufore emirate, along with six other new kingdoms, was announced in December 2024. However, the decision has been met with criticism from some Adamawa residents, who have declared the emirate illegal and shameful.
Dr. Ardo, a prominent politician, and Prof. Alkasum, a history teacher, are among those who have spoken out against the creation of the new emirates. They argue that the decision was not in line with traditional and cultural norms.
Despite the controversy, Governor Fintiri has defended the creation of the new emirates, stating that it is aimed at promoting cultural and traditional heritage in the state.
The swearing-in of Ribadu as the new Emir of Fufore has added to the ongoing debate, with many calling for clarification on the status of the new emirates.
