Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe! In a bold demonstration of proactive leadership, Hon. Uchenna Joseph Okolo, the Executive Chairman of Awgu Local Government Area, has spearheaded a groundbreaking initiative aimed at improving sanitation standards across communities in the LGA. Under his direction, a comprehensive training program was conducted for local artisans on the installation of Sato pans and taps—modern tools designed to enhance hygiene and environmental health.

The training, organized through the Enugu State Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency (EN-RUWASSA), was part of a strategic partnership with the Enugu State Government led by His Excellency, Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah. Hon. Okolo’s decisive procurement of 2,000 Sato pans and taps set the project in motion for Awgu, positioning the LGA as a frontline player in Enugu’s sanitation transformation.

Local plumbers, bricklayers, and masons participated in the hands-on training, which included live demonstrations, practical sessions, and a robust Q&A segment. EN-RUWASSA Executive Secretary Hon. Chika Mbah praised Hon. Okolo for his vision and commitment to community development, noting that Awgu’s preparedness and response to the State’s sanitation agenda stand as a model for other LGAs in Enugu.

“This initiative reflects the kind of leadership we need at the grassroots level,” she said. “Mayor Okolo’s foresight and quick action in procuring these sanitary tools have made this idea not only possible but impactful.”

The initiative aligns with Governor Mbah’s environmental and health policies, and Hon. Okolo’s localized execution and close engagement with the people have drawn widespread commendation. The governor’s administration has further supported the program by procuring over 10,000 Sato pans and stools for deployment across the state.

Community leaders and residents have expressed gratitude for Hon. Okolo’s efforts, with Mr. Cletus Nwogbo, a community leader from Ogbaku, stating, “This training is a game changer. It shows that Mayor Okolo is truly in touch with the needs of his people and is working in harmony with the governor’s vision.”

As Hon. Uchenna Joseph Okolo continues to cement his reputation as a visionary grassroots leader, this sanitation-focused initiative stands as a testament to his unwavering commitment to improving the quality of life in Awgu LGA through tangible, community-centered actions.
