
Hon. Engr. Anayo Onwuegbu, FNSE, the Member representing Aninri/Awgu/Oji River Federal Constituency of Enugu State at the House of Representatives, stands out for his uncommon resolve and visible impact within a short period at the National Assembly.

Chijioke Okereke of the Labour Party, Hon. Onwuegbu wasted no time integrating himself into the business and politics of the House. Despite the initial challenges of coming on board midstream, he has remained focused, resilient, and undeterred.
In recognition of his competence and capacity, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, appointed him Chairman of the Lake Chad Committee — a notable feat for a first-term lawmaker. He also serves as a member of several other strategic committees, giving his constituency a strong voice at the national level.
Driven by a passion to deliver dividends of democracy to the people of Greater Awgu, Hon. Onwuegbu has initiated and executed impactful projects and interventions across Aninri, Awgu, and Oji River Local Government Areas. These interventions, which are visible and verifiable, include:
1. Award of scholarships to about 300 indigenes of Greater Awgu for NCE and PGDE programmes.
2. Sponsorship of Masters degree scholarships for deserving students at Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT).
3. Distribution of bags of rice across the 41 wards of Greater Awgu, along with cash gifts of ₦10,000 and ₦5,000 for condiments.
4. Provision of sports materials, wears, and canvas shoes to pupils in selected primary schools.
5. Distribution of NPK and Urea fertilizers to farmers in all 41 wards.
6. Construction of a 6-room classroom block at Awgu Boys Secondary School.
7. Support for the completion and roofing of the Ugwuoba Civic Hall.
8. Installation of solar street lights in various wards.
9. Donation of a Hilux van for security operations in Oji River LGA.
10. Facilitation of NEMA intervention and relief materials for the Ivo River flood disaster in Mpu and Okpanku communities.
11. Ongoing road and drainage construction projects in Akpugoeze, Inyi, Ugwuoba, Agbogugu, and other areas.
12. Attraction of the rehabilitation of Achi Joint Hospital.
13. Distribution of palliative food items through the FCCO to all wards.
14. Provision of rice and cash support to selected widows across Greater Awgu.
15. Facilitation of admissions for Greater Awgu youths into ESUT.
16. Grading of roads to various communities during electioneering campaigns.
17. Rehabilitation of the Aguabosi–Nkwere Inyi bridge using iron sheets.
In addition, his youth empowerment programmes and packages are in the pipeline, with more initiatives lined up to touch more lives.
Hon. Onwuegbu has also made his mark in lawmaking, having sponsored and co-sponsored several bills within his short but impactful time at the National Assembly.
In less than two years, he has matched words with action, fulfilling promises and rekindling hope that Greater Awgu will not be left behind.
