The ceremony, which held at the village square of Isiuga, Ishienu Amofu, began with the breaking of the traditional kolanut, a sacred ritual signifying unity, peace, and goodwill. The royal arena was adorned with traditional emblems, and beautifully dressed elders of the land, all bearing testimony to the rich cultural heritage of the Igbo people.
In his first royal speech, Igwe Michael Christian Ogbonnaya, visibly moved and humbled by the occasion, addressed his people and guests with warmth and resolute clarity. He said:

“Today marks a new chapter in the annals of Ishienu Amofu. I stand before you not just as a man, but as a custodian of our culture, our values, and our collective future. By the will of God and the unanimous voice of our people, I accept this crown with honour and with the full weight of the responsibility it bears.”

The newly crowned monarch thanked the traditional council, kingmakers, elders, and entire community for the confidence reposed in him, promising to serve selflessly and foster unity across all quarters of the land.
“I pledge to be a bridge between the past and the future; to uphold our time-tested customs while embracing innovation and progress. Under my watch, no voice shall go unheard,” he said to a thunderous applause.

The Eldest man in Ishienu Amofu, Chief Michael Awgu, who presided over the installation rites, described Igwe Ogbonnaya as a man of unblemished character, wisdom, and proven service to the community.

“We searched for a leader, and God directed us to him. He has served with integrity, given generously without seeking praise, and has stood firm during our most trying times. Today, we celebrate not just a coronation, but the enthronement of peace, progress, and purpose,” he declared.
Also speaking, Hon. Barr. Chimaobi Okorie, the Commissioner for Lands and a son of the soil, congratulated the monarch and commended the people of Ishienu Amofu for their peaceful and transparent selection process. He reiterated the state government’s commitment to supporting traditional institutions in fostering rural development, cultural preservation, and conflict resolution.
“Igwe Ogbonnaya’s reign will enjoy the full cooperation of the state government. We recognize that our traditional leaders are closest to the grassroots. Your role in maintaining harmony and guiding the moral compass of society is invaluable,” he noted.
The President-General of the Ishienu Amofu Development Union, Engr. Ndubuisi Ani extolled the community’s unity and expressed optimism that the new leadership would usher in a renaissance in education, agriculture, youth empowerment, and women inclusion.
“Our expectations are high, but so is our faith in your capacity. We are ready to work with you, not just as subjects, but as partners in progress,” he affirmed.
Cultural displays, traditional dances, and flute music performances enlivened the occasion, while guests were treated to sumptuous local delicacies and hospitality.
In his closing remarks, Igwe Ogbonnaya reaffirmed his commitment to peace and pledged to serve as a father to all, regardless of lineage, age, or status.
“Let there be no victor and no vanquished. I wear this crown not for personal glory but as a symbol of unity, service, and destiny. Let us move forward together.”
As the sun set over the hills of Ishienu Amofu, casting a golden hue across the royal grounds, it was clear that a new era had begun, one led by a monarch who embodies tradition, and the resolute spirit of his people.
