Breaking: Nigerian Governor Hands Over to Deputy, Gives Reasons

Katsina State Governor Dikko Umaru Radda has announced that he will commence a three-week medical leave starting Monday, August 18, 2025, to address health concerns.

During his absence, Deputy Governor Malam Faruk Lawal, also known as Sarkin Fulanin Jobe, will assume the responsibilities of the governor in an acting capacity to ensure continuity of governance.

“The leave is set to commence on Monday, 18 August 2025,” stated a release from the Commissioner for Information, Bala Salisu Zango.

Governor Radda emphasized the need for uninterrupted leadership during his absence, saying, “To ensure seamless governance and continued leadership, Deputy Governor Lawal has been designated to lead the state during my medical leave.”

He also expressed gratitude to citizens for their support, reaffirmed his commitment to serve with renewed energy upon return, and expressed confidence in the capability of his deputy to maintain effective governance during his absence.
