Former Nigerian Military Head of State and elder statesman, Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar GCFR (Rtd.), who midwifed Nigeria’s return to democracy in 1999, has appointed Hon. Prince Humphrey Onyima, Publisher of Leadership Scorecard magazine, as a member of the Abdulsalami A. Abubakar (AAA) Presidential Book Launch Committee.

He noted that the appointment affords him the honour to serve alongside eminent African leaders of thought on a project that underscores Abubakar’s historic contributions.
He pledged to contribute to the media campaign showcasing Abubakar’s landmark achievements, particularly his swift and successful transition programme that restored civilian rule within eleven months, as well as his peacebuilding missions across Africa and beyond.
Nigeria’s democracy, ushered in by Abubakar in 1999, recently marked 26 years, an enduring testament to his vision and leadership.
The forthcoming books by Gen. Abubakar are described as timely interventions, offering both reflection and guidance to Nigeria’s political class while highlighting the enduring importance of peace in nation-building and sustainable development.
The works will be unveiled as part of celebrations marking the statesman’s 83rd birthday on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at the Presidential Villa Banquet Hall, Aso Rock, Abuja.
