Okolie, with NYSC state code BN/24C/0331, presented the items on Thursday in Makurdi, explaining that the gesture was aimed at complementing government efforts and addressing educational challenges in his host community.

According to him, the computers would enhance the quality of teaching and learning while also stimulating students’ interest in digital literacy.

“I want to help these young students have the tools they need to excel in their academic pursuits.
Today I am donating a system unit, a white projection flex banner, and two desktop computers to Padopads Harmony Secondary School, Highlevel Makurdi, to enhance learning.
The goal is to ensure that every child in Padopads becomes accustomed to technology,” he said.
Okolie, who hails from Awgu in Enugu State, disclosed that he had earlier organized a Digital Literacy Training Program in the school, where participants were awarded certificates. In addition, he facilitated the payment of NECO fees worth over ₦200,000 for six indigenous students from Padopads Harmony Secondary School and Alex Gaadi Comprehensive School through the Elite Leadership Foundation.

He noted that these interventions were in line with the Federal Ministry of Education’s ongoing efforts to upgrade school curricula to meet global standards.

“The training I organized was to teach the students the basic use of computers. To address the challenge of parents being unable to pay their children’s NECO fees, I also facilitated scholarships for indigenous Benue students,” he explained.

The corps member appealed to the school’s management to continue promoting digital learning so that students could become useful to themselves and society at large.
Speaking at the event, the NYSC Benue State Coordinator, Mrs. Veronica Garba, represented by Ms. Stella Beulah Gokum—described the initiative as a laudable effort aimed at impacting the host community. She commended Okolie for his commitment to service, noting that the Community Development Service (CDS) platform was designed for corps members to positively transform their environments.
The Principal of Padopads Harmony Secondary School, Mrs. Ahura Regina, who received the items on behalf of the school, expressed gratitude for the gesture. She emphasized that the donation would prepare students for the 2026 external examinations and the new ICT-driven curriculum.
“When he first visited the school, I never knew he would do so much. He fulfilled all his promises, from the NECO scholarship to the digital literacy training and now the donation of computers. We are deeply grateful,” she said.
In her vote of thanks, Okile Rhoda, a student of Padopads Harmony Secondary School, appreciated the donation and pledged that students would make effective use of the facilities to improve their learning.
