The Managing Director of the Enugu State Marketing Company Ltd., Engr. Mike Ogbuekwe, leveraged the Civil Service Week to spotlight the state government’s Workers’ Food Scheme among civil servants, emphasizing the programme’s ongoing significance as a key welfare initiative for the state’s workforce.

During the weeklong event, which served as a platform for civil servants to engage with government leaders, learn about ongoing initiatives, and explore ways to enhance optimal service delivery under the theme “Leveraging Technology For A Smart And Agile Public Service,” Engr. Ogbuekwe interacted with participants, providing guidance on registration and enrollment for the Workers’ Food Scheme. He outlined how workers could maximize its benefits and supported the process by sharing informational fliers, answering questions, and onboarding interested participants to ensure the programme continues to reach every eligible civil servant across the state.

Engr. Ogbuekwe accentuated the value of the Workers’ Food Scheme, stating, “The Scheme is designed to make essential food readily accessible to civil servants, ensuring that no worker has to compromise on basic needs.” He encouraged participants to take full advantage of the initiative, highlighting the state government’s commitment to practical, citizen-focused programs that improve livelihoods and support workforce stability.

Ogbuekwe further informed participants that the scheme enables enrolled civil servants to access essential food items through convenient salary deductions, removing financial barriers, while the company’s newly launched e-commerce platform (www.enugumarket.ng) provides a streamlined way to order and receive products efficiently.

The Workers’ Food Scheme, launched in October 2025 with the approval of His Excellency, Gov. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, has remained operational since its inception. The Enugu State Marketing Company remains committed to ensuring the programme benefits every eligible civil servant through coordinated implementation, monitoring, and support of the state government’s workforce initiatives.
