A total of 7,991 students received degrees across various faculties, underscoring the university’s expanding capacity in academic training, research, and human capital development. One of the major highlights of the ceremony was the conferment of an honorary Doctorate Degree on the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, in recognition of his notable contributions to national development and public service.
In a remarkable endorsement of academic excellence, Hon. Engr. Anayo Onwuegbu, FNSE, Member representing Aninri/Awgu/Oji River Federal Constituency, announced a full academic scholarship up to the Ph.D. level for the university’s Best Graduating Student, Comr. Ezenwa Ikenna. The top honouree, who emerged as the overall Best Graduating Student of the 2025 class, hails from the Department of English and Literary Studies, Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities.
The announcement sparked loud applause from the audience, celebrating both the outstanding academic feat of Comr. Ikenna and the lawmaker’s generous gesture. Hon. Onwuegbu expressed pride in ESUT’s tradition of producing exceptional graduates and reiterated his commitment to supporting educational advancement.
