Hon. Okolo made this known on Thursday, September 11, 2025, when the Enugu State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Sir Dr. Martins Chukwunwike, led members of the State Working Committee and other party executives on a sensitization visit to the Awgu LGA Secretariat. The exercise formed part of the PDP’s statewide mobilization drive for the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) continuous voter registration.
Welcoming the delegation, Hon. Okolo acknowledged Governor Mbah’s leadership, describing it as innovative and impactful across sectors. He emphasized that Awgu Local Government is aligning with the Governor’s vision by implementing projects that directly benefit local communities.

He highlighted achievements of his administration, including the completion of 18 solar-powered boreholes under the Awgu Water for All Initiative, with a target of 25 boreholes to permanently end water scarcity. He also mentioned the One Ward, One Kilometer Road Project across the council’s eleven wards, the recently flagged-off 3.5-kilometer Awgu–Ugwueme Road, and the 4-kilometer access road to the Agbogugu Smart Green School as part of ongoing infrastructure delivery.
“We are working hand-in-hand with Governor Mbah to ensure development reaches every community in Awgu. At the same time, we are mobilizing our people to register massively with INEC, because Awgu intends to lead in voter registration numbers ahead of the 2027 elections,” Hon. Okolo stated.

In their remarks, Dr. Chukwunwike and other members of the PDP State Working Committee noted Hon. Okolo’s leadership approach, particularly in grassroots mobilization and in improving the Awgu Council Secretariat. They emphasized the importance of unity and loyalty among Awgu stakeholders as the 2027 elections draw closer.

The sensitization visit drew political leaders, traditional rulers, and community stakeholders. Present were Hon. Steve Orurua, Deputy Chairman of the PDP in Enugu State; Hon. Chukwudi Nnadozie, State Secretary; Hon. Sydney Edeh, Chairman of Nkanu East LGA; Hon. Frank Anioma, Special Adviser on Political Affairs to Governor Mbah; and High Chief Amobi Edeh, State Chairman of Ohanaeze Ndigbo. Also in attendance were zonal chairmen of the party from the three senatorial districts, the State Woman Leader, the Acting State Youth Leader, presidents-general of Awgu communities, women leaders, and youth leaders.

The event reinforced the PDP’s grassroots activities in Awgu, positioning Hon. Okolo as both a promoter of local development and an advocate for political participation, while confirming Awgu’s strategic role in Governor Mbah’s 2027 re-election project.
