ENUGU STATE GOV’T ANNOUNCES FINAL GRATUITY VERIFICATION FOR RETIREES AND NEXT OF KIN

The Enugu State Government has announced a Final Mop-Up Gratuity Verification Exercise for retirees and Next of Kin (NoK) who either missed the initial rounds of verification or recently completed their legal documentation. The final verification exercise is scheduled to hold from Monday, August 18th to Friday, August 22nd, 2025, at the Enugu North Local Government Headquarters.

According to an official public service announcement, “This exercise offers a final opportunity for eligible individuals to be verified for gratuity processing. No further extensions will be granted.”

Who Should Participate?

The government listed two categories of individuals eligible to participate in the final exercise:

  • Retirees who were unable to participate in previous verification rounds.
  • Next of Kin of deceased retirees who now possess the required legal documents.

However, retirees who have already completed the verification process or have received full gratuity payments should not attend, while those who received partial payments must present relevant supporting documents.

Required Documentation

Participants are expected to come with original copies and photocopies of the following:

  • Verification Printout (from earlier pension verification)
  • Notice of Retirement
  • Pension Identification Card
  • Pension Form and Authority
  • Bank Verification Number (BVN) and National Identification Number (NIN)
  • Two (2) recent passport photographs
  • Bank Statement (minimum of one year)

For Next of Kin, additional documents include:

  • Death Certificate
  • Letter of Administration or Affidavit
  • Any other relevant documentation should also be brought along.

Provision for Those Abroad or Hospitalized

The government has also made provisions for retirees or Next of Kin who are unable to attend due to being abroad or hospitalized. Such individuals must:

  • Send a signed authorization letter or affidavit containing their full details and the name of their representative.
  • Ensure that the representative appears in person with all required documents.
  • Submit scanned copies of all documents via email to verifygratuity@gmail.com, with the retiree’s name and Pension ID in the subject line.

Important Reminders

The verification exercise is strictly limited to the specified dates and venue. Participants are also advised to ensure that their bank details (or Estate Account details for Next of Kin) are active and accurate. Full compliance with verification officers’ instructions will be required.
