The initiative is the outcome of strategic engagements between the Enugu State Government and the Director-General and Chief Executive of the Industrial Training Fund (ITF), Dr. Afiz Oluwatoyin Ogun. The partnership is being facilitated by the Enugu MSME & Startup Agency, which is coordinating implementation efforts.

When operational, the Digital Fabrication Centre will serve as a hub for equipping youths, artisans, entrepreneurs and innovators with cutting-edge technical and entrepreneurial skills needed to compete in the modern economy. The Centre will provide training in digital fabrication, robotics and automation, computer-aided design (CAD), prototyping and product development, advanced technical and vocational skills, as well as entrepreneurship and local manufacturing.

The initiative aligns with the development agenda of Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, whose administration has prioritised investments in technology, innovation, skills acquisition and industrial development as key drivers of sustainable economic transformation.

Government officials say the project will strengthen Enugu’s innovation ecosystem by developing a highly skilled workforce, supporting enterprise growth and creating employment opportunities for residents.

The proposed ITF Digital Fabrication Centre is expected to play a significant role in positioning Enugu State as a leading destination for technology, innovation and industrial excellence in Nigeria.

The initiative underscores the administration’s commitment to building the human capital and infrastructure required to prepare the state’s workforce for the demands of the future economy.
